Curatorial Assistant
Working closely with the Curators and Head of Exhibitions, the Curatorial Assistant will help to deliver Whitechapel Gallery’s mission to put artists and audiences at the heart of everything they do. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and delivering loan exhibitions and specially commissioned projects, with a particular responsibility around all aspects relating to the management of loans and budgets and the organisation of shipment and insurance.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and engaged individual. They will relish the opportunity of working collaboratively with colleagues across the Whitechapel Gallery, with artists and external partners. They will work with other staff members to ensure that the programme (both physical and digital) engages meaningfully with diverse audiences, locally and globally. They will also have a firm commitment to and interest in contemporary art, especially in diversifying perspectives of art history.

Conditions of work
Contract: Fixed-term (16 months)
Hours of work: Full-time (36.25 hours per week)
Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 5:45pm, with one hour for lunch.Salary: £26,000 per annum
The period of notice is 2 months in writing on either side
Probationary period: 6 months
Due to the nature of the job, some evening and weekend work will be required, as well as occasional travel. This will be compensated by time off in lieu.
