Marion Strunk
During the IKT Congress 2024, delegates will have the exclusive opportunity to visit Gleis 70 artist studios and meet Marion Strunk.
Marion Strunk is an artist and art theoretician born in Germany and based in Zurich. She studied fine arts at the University of the Arts and art history at Freie Universität in Berlin. She is a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts. Her works are in public and private Swiss art collections. The main question of Marion Strunks work is: What is an image? By bringing together photography and thread it can be shown what a picture actually is: a fiction. The thread is always concretely in the picture, it can be touched and is really a thread at that moment. In public space she shows the theme in reverse: She puts balls of wool in hedges or in trees, form balls into shapes or wraps sculptures around them – the thread, the artificial, connects with reality, culture and nature.
