IKT Board Application

What specific skills, expertise, or perspectives do you believe you would bring to the IKT Board?

Community and Network Building, Communication, and International Relationship Expertise:

Through my many years of curatorial projects, teaching activities, international projects, publishing and editorial activities, I have built up a large international network that I can bring to IKT profitably.

For example, as a co-founder of the International Forum for Eco-Embodied Arts, I have been keen to work towards reaching out to under-represented regions of the world and creating community access. I also hope to engage my networks from regions such as the African continent, Latin America, and Eastern Europe to help IKT expand its reach globally.

My background in communication, international relationships, and community engagement will be instrumental in amplifying IKT's presence and fostering deeper connections within the global curatorial community. Having served in various capacities, I bring a comprehensive understanding of how to engage diverse audiences and strengthen community ties.

Academic and Educational Expertise:

Through my skills in building educational formats, I aim to support the organization in contributing relevant content to the contemporary discourse.

My experience as a guest lecturer and mentor in various institutions worldwide has honed my ability to develop and deliver educational programs. This expertise will contribute to IKT's mission of advancing curatorial knowledge and fostering professional development.

As a board member, I would love to bring in my expertise to highlight and expand IKT’s educational profile and make the existing treasure of knowledge within the association more accessible. To make the association more active and visible throughout the year, e.g. a series of online curator conversations could be a possibility. Introducing online formats for the sharing of knowledge, such as recordings and streamings also of our annual congresses, will also support IKT’s outreach and awareness towards sustainability.

Furthermore, my work in developing and leading socio-ecological and participatory art projects has equipped me with a unique perspective on inclusivity and transformative educational processes. I would love to see and help IKT work towards building a mentoring scheme as part of the association’s ethical agenda regarding inclusivity and accessibility.

As a board member, I would bring a commitment to these values, and help ensure that IKT expands its reach for inclusive and innovative curatorial practices. By bringing these skills and perspectives to the IKT Board, I aim to contribute to the organization's strategic direction, enhance its global impact, and support the professional development of curators worldwide.

What motivated you to apply for a position on the IKT Board, and what do you hope to achieve or contribute if selected?

I have reached a point in my professional career where I am highly motivated to become a member of the IKT Board because I see it as a unique opportunity to give back to a community that has been very supportive in creating opportunities for my career as a curator and in developing long-lasting bonds. Over two decades of experience in curating and managing international art projects, coupled with my commitment to knowledge formation, align perfectly with IKT's mission to serve the global curatorial community. The chance to work alongside other inspiring curators to shape the strategic direction of IKT would be both professionally and personally enriching for me.

If selected, I would like to contribute to the expansion of IKT's global reach, fostering a more diverse and inclusive network of curators, especially in under-represented regions, leveraging my extensive international network and experience in community engagement. Furthermore, I would aim to amplify IKT's visibility and foster deeper connections within the curatorial community.

Through my role on the board, I seek to share my knowledge in the development of educational programs and workshops that promote sustainable and inclusive curatorial practices. I aim to support IKT in achieving its strategic goals and ensuring its continued growth and impact.
